This sign was one of the first I ever made, and it holds deep significance for me. It was inspired by a woman I knew from the Deer Clan, an Anishinaabe woman who had a profound impact on my life. At one point, it felt like she had disappeared, and that loss weighed heavily on me. She became the catalyst for my journey into reconnecting with my Indigenous roots, guiding me to explore and embrace my heritage. Now, I know where she is and that she’s alright, but her influence on my life—and on this piece—will always stay with me.
